Join the Friends of the Wapack today and receive the Voice of the Wapack newsletter to keep you informed of any news about the trail. You will also have the satisfaction and opportunity of learning more about, and contributing to, the preservation of a major local resource for your enjoyment and for generations to come.
Volunteer opportunities include “Section Captains” who adopt and care for specific sections of the Trail system. They clear downed trees, re-blaze as necessary, and perform myriad other tasks such as brush clearing – whatever’s necessary to keep all parts of the footpath accessible. Several times a year work days are held, when crews of volunteers tackle larger tasks such as erosion control, construction projects such as bog bridges or even relocations of the footpath. Volunteers are always welcome. Check our on line calendar for events and trail work days.
Other volunteer opportunities include serving on the Board of Directors, leading hikes, helping with publications, mailings and publicity and working to secure permanent legal protection of the general public’s right to traverse the Trail.
Because membership is open to all, there are no dues. However, the Friends need donations and volunteers to maintain and protect this trail system. Please consider donating your time and/or money when you join.
